Organizational Storytelling at Scale
How human-centered narratives helped employees understand transformation and see themselves in the story
Cummins Inc., a Fortune 150 global power technology leader, was undergoing a major transformation, expanding its capabilities beyond diesel engines into electrification, alternative fuels, and digital solutions, while deepening its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusion.
I was brought in to help communicate this transformation through storytelling that made strategy feel personal, relatable, and real to employees around the world.
The Insight
Employees are more likely to trust and embrace change when they see it through the eyes of their peers.
Organizational storytelling builds that trust by connecting enterprise goals to everyday work, using language that resonates and examples that stick.

How we made it work
-
I partnered with leaders across engineering, manufacturing, digital, and sustainability functions to identify and surface stories that reflected progress in action. I interviewed employees at all levels and wrote narrative-driven articles that highlighted culture shifts, innovation, and impact.
-
These stories were published on Cummins’ external news site and widely shared internally through newsletters, town halls, and team huddles. They became key tools for reinforcing change messaging, recognizing employee contributions, and driving internal alignment.

Even though these stories lived externally, they were written for internal impact. They gave employees a sense of visibility, belonging, and purpose while also helping leaders communicate complex change.
